Durga Puja 2026

Soul of Rural India: A Heartfelt Homecoming at Aikotaan Durga Puja 2026

For three memorable days, from October 9 to 11, 2026, Aikotaan Durga Puja at Chinmaya Mission, Tustin, California brought our community closer to its roots. With the theme “Soul of Rural India,” the celebration captured the warmth, artistry and simplicity of village life—the familiar feeling of visiting grandparents, gathering in a courtyard and sharing stories with no hurry to leave. For probasi families celebrating thousands of miles from Bengal, it was a homecoming of the heart, filled with devotion, friendship and the unmistakable joy of our own parar pujo.

A Village in Our Hearts, Brought to Life by Our Community

The beauty of this year’s celebration lay in the love behind its details. Village-inspired crafts, traditional rural art and community-created decorations transformed the Puja space into a celebration of our heritage. Every handmade touch reflected the imagination and dedication of the Aikotaan family. For adults, the theme opened a doorway to cherished memories; for children, it offered a colourful introduction to the traditions and creativity that connect them to their roots.

Three Days of Devotion, Culture and Togetherness

Beginning with Bodhan on Friday, the weekend unfolded through sacred rituals, shared prayers and joyful gatherings. Saptami, Ashtami, Pushpanjali, Kumari Puja and Sandhi Puja brought families together in devotion, while the final day carried the emotions of Navami, Dashami and Bijoya. Alongside these traditions came the pleasures that make Pujo so special: festive meals, familiar faces, new friendships and conversations that always seemed to need a little more time.

The celebration also shone through the creativity of our community. Aikotaan’s Cultural Program brought music, dance and performances to the stage, celebrating talent across generations. Sunday’s musical gatherings added to the warmth of the weekend, reminding us that our culture flourishes whenever we come together to share it.

Chandrabindoo Live: The Soundtrack to Our Pujo

Saturday evening brought a special musical highlight with Chandrabindoo Live Concert. Their unmistakably Bengali sound, wit and nostalgia made them a fitting part of a celebration centred on roots and belonging. The evening added another layer to our Pujo memories—a chance to reconnect through music and carry a little of Bengal with us, right here in Southern California.

The People Who Made It Possible

Behind every welcoming smile, decorated corner, performance and shared meal were people giving their time with care. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the executive team, Puja and decoration teams, volunteers, performers, children, families, sponsors and partners whose contributions shaped this celebration. From planning and preparation to welcoming guests and helping with the final cleanup, each effort became part of a story we created together.

Aikotaan Durga Puja 2026 reminded us that the feeling of home can travel across oceans. It lives in the traditions we preserve, the friendships we nurture and the memories we make together. Through “Soul of Rural India,” we celebrated our roots while giving the next generation new memories to call their own.

A little piece of our village. A little piece of our childhood. A Pujo that belonged to all of us.
